Stokes County, NC -- One girl is dead following an accident Friday morning in Stokes County.

Authorities say 16-year-old Sonia Renee Luster and her passenger 14-year-old Alannah Wolfe were travellling east on Highway 89 on their way to North Stokes High School.

Trooper Joseph Beck of the NC Highway Patrol says that Lester was attempting to turn onto Clyde Amos Rd when she was struck by a pickup truck heading the opposite direction on Highway 89.

Luster was killed at the scene.  Her passenger, Wolfe, was taken to Baptist Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the truck, Tony Pyrtle was also taken to Baptist hospital with serious injuries.

Trooper Beck says the accident may have been a case of limited visibility.  He says Lester was behind another vehicle and may not have seen the on-coming truck when she turned.
