Los Angeles, CA -- Chris Brown is publicly apologizing for beating up ex-girlfriend Rihanna. In a two-minute video on his Web site, he apologizes to fans and says he is very sad and ashamed of his conduct. He says he has repeatedly apologized to Rihanna.
He says he "accepts full responsibility" and he calls his actions "inexcusable" and "unacceptable 100 percent." He says he's full of regret, adding "I wish I had the chance to live those few moments again but unfortunately I can't."
Brown was arrested in February and later charged with assault likely to cause great bodily harm. He pleaded guilty to the assault charge last month and faces sentencing on August 5th.
He is slated to serve five years of probation and perform six months of community labor. Brown says he wanted to speak out earlier, but was advised not to by his lawyer. Brown says he is seeking help to make sure that what happened in February never happens again.
Brown pleads with his fans, saying "I can only ask and pray that you forgive me please." He ends the video by vowing to live his life so that he is truly worthy of the term role model.
