Greensboro, NC -- After months of recovery, the puppy found burned and abused in a park has a new home.
Susie loves her new owner, Donna Lawrence.

The puppy enjoys going to work everyday at The Kutting Edge. She likes to greet customers and donna already sees how susie would want to give back.

"Everybody loves her, the customers love her. I don't bring her up here every day comes once a week because I want to keep her socialized you know keep her around people, because I want to use her for a therapy dog eventually to help with burn victims or cancer you know anything like that cause she'd be great for that," says Lawrence.

In August, Susie was three months old at the time when she was found in Greenfield Park in Greensboro. She had a burned and broken jaw.

Then in November, police arrested Lashawn Whitehead for felony animal cruelty.

Donna can sympathize with susie cause last year she was attacked by a pit bull.

"I think my story compared to her story, being attacked by a human, we both had to overcome our fears so that kind of attracted me to her. She's doing good, she is happy, she's energetic, she loves being in my back yard, she plays with my other dog, my cat so she's doing great."

Donna thinks Susie's best quality is her spunkiness and that's what helped her to survive.
