Winston-Salem, NC -- Crews worked to lay sod at the newly named "BB&T Ballpark" on Tuesday.
Sandhill Turf was contracted to lay the sod. The Triad-based company has also grown the grass for professional teams like the Washington Redskins, the Virginia Tech Hokies and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The ballpark is scheduled to open for the first home game in three weeks on April 13.
Winston-Salem Dash, formerly called the Warthogs, were set to play their 2009 season at the new downtown ballpark until funding issued forced them into another season at Ernie Shore Field.
The new ballpark will have 5500 stadium-style seats and 16 luxury suites on the Club Level.
In 2007, the City of Winston-Salem took out a $5.5 million dollar loan on its own as incentives for the team. Last fall, the stadium borrowed $12.7 million from the city to help finish building the ball park.
The team's first payment of $493,475.26 is due June 1. The second payment of $355,052.96 is due December 1.
Dash has sold enough ticket packages and sponsorship commitments to pay the city its first year of debt payments. Lassiter says he is excited about the ticket sales so far, but says he knows they still have a long way to go. They don't plan to try and accelerate the payback timeline.
Tickets to a Dash game will have a $1 surcharge on each ticket to help pay back the incentives loan.
