Winston-Salem, NC -- Police were called to a Goodwill Store on Wednesday after an employee found a hand grenade in the store.

Winston-Salem Police say a customer found the grenade on a shelf at the Peters Creek Parkway Goodwill Store and was attempting to purchase the item. The clerk was concerned by the look of the grenade and contacted police.

Traffic is the area was stopped and the Bomb Squad was called to the scene to get the grenade. Bomb Squad members say the hand grenade was inert and contained no explosive materials.

Personnel with Goodwill cannot advise if the hand grenade was a donated item or whether it was left in the store intentionally.

On Monday, an Goodwill employee in Rockingham County reported finding a grenade in a donation bin. The Greensboro Bomb Squad was called to destroy that grenade.
