Reagan Student Dies After Thursday Wreck

Winston-Salem, NC -- A student critically injured in a wreck Thursday morning died, according to Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools spokesman Theo Helm.

Nicholas 'Nick' Doub hit black ice while driving to Reagan High School Thursday morning. The wreck happened on Balsom Road. Doub was airlifted from the scene.

Trooper J.S. Hassell with the N.C. Highway Patrol said Doub was going about 30 mph in a 45 mph zone when he drove across a thin sheet of ice on the road, lost control, crossed the center line and hit a tree. The teen was wearing his seatbelt.

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center said Doub died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday.

A student in Caswell County was killed while driving to school Thursday morning. Two of his passengers were injured.
