Greensboro, NC -- When Meleshia Daye Roseborough was young she dreamed she was Cinderella with a beautiful white gown; she would marry her fairytale prince.
Meleshia got all that and more on Saturday. She married her boyfriend of eight years, Samuel Roseborough. Despite their happiness, the couple has a lot weighing on them these days. In July, Meleshia, was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. She is only 25 years old.
"Whatever it was I wanted to do, I wanted to go ahead and do it," said Meleshia about moving up her wedding six months.
Both Meleshia and Samuel said they were not going to let breast cancer stop them or keep them from marrying each other.
"I got my queen now," said Samuel. "I'm just pretty much happy about that."
Meleshia has had chemotherapy six times now. She said she's happy with the results. The doctors tell her her tumors are shrinking.
"I have a wonderful support system and they encourage me," said Meleshia. "They keep me lifted up in spirit. And then I thank God every day for my healing and keeping me blessed with my family and friends"
Meleshia does have a message for other women who suspect a lump in their breast. She says, do whatever it takes to get it biopsied because early detection is key. She says a doctor told her not to worry about a biopsy because of her age. She wishes she had gotten a second opinion.
