Greensboro, NC -- The body of a Greensboro soldier killed in Iraq will return to the Triad on Thursday.
Army Specialist David Hickman, 23 died November 14 in Iraq, when his unit was hit with an improvised explosive device.
Hickman's family will be on hand at the Piedmont Triad International Airport Thursday morning as his casket is taken off the plane. Hickman's hearse will be escorted to Hargett Funeral Home by the Greensboro Chapter of the "Patriot Guard Riders", with support of the Greensboro Police Department.
Hickman's funeral will be held Saturday at 11am at the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Drive. He will be buried in Lakeview Memorial Park.
David Hickman was a standout football player at Northeast Guilford High School until graduation in 2006. His former coach announced the annual award at the school for defensive player of the year will be named in Hickman's honor.
