Greensboro, NC-- A memorial service was held for Navy Petty Officer Second Class, Sean Brazas who was killed last month in Afghanistan.
On Saturday, friends, family and the Patriot Guard Riders attended a memorial service at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church in Greensboro.
The Patriot Guard Riders lined the walkway into the church with American flags, something they have done too much of recently.
"We're hoping down the road that we're doing a lot more welcome homes and a lot less of these," said Steve Macemore, a member of the Patriot Guard Riders.
While family and friends came in droves to pay their respects to the Brazas family, the Patriot Guard stood watch over the family, offering protection and peace.
Macemore explained that members of the Patriot Guard Riders make it a special priority to attend services like Brazas.
"Memorial services and funerals for veterans, WWII veterans, we get good turn out for those, but for a KIA like this, they really turn out," said Macemore.
Another kind of memorial honoring Brazas is back in his childhood neighborhood in Greensboro. Neighbors lined the streets leading to the home he grew up in with American flags.

Sean Brazas' committal with full military honors will happen Tuesday at Arlington National Cemetery at 11 a.m.
