GUILFORD COUNTY - The Guilford County Animal Shelter added a brand new spay and neuter mobile unit on Monday.
The shelter is only using the mobile unit to to spay and neuter animals staying at the shelter, but soon will go around the county to offer low cost services.
"There will be less pets and animals coming into the shelter so that will reduce the costs of what the taxpayers have to pay to care for animals that are unwanted," said GCAS Executive Director Marsha Williams. "It will also make the communities' animals healthier and happier."
The shelter will take applications from people receiving services from social services and then will schedule an appointment.
