Winston-Salem, NC--  News 2 asks for Triad signatures for a community sympathy card to be sent to Aurora, Colorado.

News 2 found plenty of people helping us reach our brothers and sisters cross-country at Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem Friday night.

News 2's Liz Crawford spent Friday evening inside Hanes Mall, where hundreds came to sign a mass sympathy card, from the Triad to the community of Aurora.

After a few hours, there were 270 signatures and short messages filling up the front and back of two posters.

Here are just some of the messages:

I'm sorry for your loss. Love, Lucia

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We will keep you in our hearts and prayers.

Even with a time zone between us, life was put on hold for just a moment.

"There was a lot of people there that love their families that was just going for a family's night out and tragedy struck them and it breaks all of our hearts whether we know them or not it breaks our hearts. Somewhere somebody loves those people and we do too and it's really really sad," said Wendy Whitaker.

The next three messages written by children:

God bless and so sorry.

I will keep you in my heart.

Hope all things get better soon.

People came all evening long to sign a sympathy card from one community to another with words rooted in faith and love.

For some people it was even personal.

"I guess it's personal for me because I'm pregnant now and I don't want my daughter coming into a world that's full of bad things that are going on so it's important for people, including those involved in this to know it's not all bad," one woman told News 2 while she signed the card.

"We lost our own son last September. He took his own life, and we know how much it matters to have people to help you to heal," added another woman who came to the mall Friday night only to sign that card.

Our prayers are with you.

May God bless all of you through this very difficult time. Love, Rick Tycer.

I know it's hard now but please remember all the good in this world. It always outshines all the dark and evil. God bless.

God bless Colorado.
