Brown Summit, NC -- Guilford County Schools hopes to make an announcement about the new timeline to finish McNair Elementary School sometime this week.

A spokeswoman said "new information" should be made public "soon." Contractor JE Dunn has taken over the construction effort after Farley Associates was fired for failing to finish the project. The school was supposed to open in July.

It will be up to JE Dunn to determine how much work is left to do and how long it will take to get it done.

Meanwhile, the City of Winston-Salem could be closer to getting construction work going at Fire Station No. 19 again. Nothing's been happening since Farley defaulted there, too, but an assistant city manager says a new contractor could be on the job this week.
