Police Raid Stores Selling Synthetic Drugs

Alamance County, NC -- Six months ago, the Burlington Police Department received several community complaints in reference to the substances being sold at the Purple Peddler, at 1325 North Church Street in Burlington.

The Burlington Police Department Community Crime Abatement Team started an investigation regarding the Purple Peddler and learned the owner also had a business in Mebane. The Burlington Police Department and Mebane Police Department then began a joint undercover operation regarding the Purple Peddler at both locations. During the investigation, officers purchased synthetic marijuana from the Purple Peddler at both locations from the owner and multiple employees.

On October 9, 2012, Burlington Police served a search warrant at the Purple Peddler located at 1325 North Church Street in Burlington and the Mebane Police Department served a search warrant at the Purple Peddler located at 204 North Fifth Street in Mebane. Officers seized over 1,200 packages of suspected "bath salts" and synthetic marijuana, marijuana, money, and over 3,000 items of drug paraphernalia including smoking devices and scales.

Burlington police arrested Edward Dennis Robeson,  Jordan Michael Colapietro,  Mark Christopher Boyd, and Frederick Jacob Pickard.

Mebane Police Department arrested George Lafern Robeson and Edward Dennis Robeson. They all face several drug possession related charges.

The Elon Police Department, Elon Campus Police Department, and Graham Police Department also assisted in this investigation.
