Pilot Mountain, NC -- The fire at Pilot Mountain could grow another 300 acres before it's completely contained, according to Surry County Emergency Management Director John Shelton.
The fire, which started Thursday, continued burning Saturday afternoon.
Around 10 a.m., the fire had spread to almost 700 acres, Shelton said.
There are about 60 crew members working to contain the fire. Saturday, Shelton told News 2 crews would begin dumping water on the fire via aircraft.
Shelton says the fire is still within the fire line.
Before the end of the day, the fire could spread up to 1,000 acres.
He expects the fire to be 100 percent contained by the end of the day. That doesn't mean the fire will be completely extinguished, but crews will have it completely secured within the fire line.
