Asheboro, NC-- Some not so happy news was announced to workers in the Triad.
Last week, Energizer Holdings, Inc. told the North Carolina Department of Commerce it's laying off workers at its three Asheboro plants.
The company sent the state a letter as an official notice that, on or about March 15, 2013, EnergIzer Holdings, Inc. intends to begin undergoing a reduction in force at its Energizer Battery Company facilities on Albemarle Road, Art Bryan Drive and West Central Avenue.
As a result, approximately 80 to 100 employees will be laid off. Company officials at Energizer said that a majority of all layoffs will occur between March 15, 2013, and December 31, 2013.
All affected employees will receive either 60 days notice, 60 days wages and benefits, or a combination of the two to ensure compliance with the WARN Act.
