High Point Woman Charged With ID Theft, Bond Set At $1 Million

High Point, NC-- A woman is in the High Point jail under a huge bond for theft.

On January 16, Police in High Point arrested and charged Brenda Schmidt with three counts of Identity Theft, seven counts of Attempting to Obtain Property by False Pretense, and one count of Obtaining Property by False Pretense.

Detectives said they executed a search warrant on Schmidt's house in High Point and her place of employment listed as United Furniture Industries. Officers said Schmidt was employed as the payroll clerk while at the company, which provided her access to current and former employee information.

Schmidt is in jail under a $ 1 million bond.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected, police said.
