Randolph County, NC-- A school bus driver is facing charges after investigators said she drove into the back of a garbage truck.

Trooper Greg Ingram with the NC State Highway Patrol said the accident happened around 8:03 am Thursday on Finch Farm Rd. near Old Mountain Rd. Randolph County 911 said the address is in Trinity.

According to Trooper Ingram, the school bus was traveling behind a Handy's Garbage Service truck on Finch Farm Road. Ingram said the truck made a stop and the bus hit it.

Twelve students were on the bus when the accident happened, none of them were injured. However, Ingram said a parent took their child to the doctor by personal vehicle.

The driver of the bus, Mary Whipple, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Ingram said.
