Greensboro, NC -- Guanghui Lei, 45, is currently in Greensboro Jail Central without bond. Police found Lei's wife, Yan Wu, and his sister, Bi Fang Liu, shot dead in the married couple's home on Coronado Drive Thursday, April 18.

Sunday, Lei was extradited from Tennessee. Late Monday, Greensboro Police announced that in addition to the two murder charges, Lei now faces "Murder of an Unborn Child" charge. Investigators said in a news release that Lei's sister was in her second trimester of pregnancy when she was killed.

North Carolina is one of 37 states to recognize the humanity of unborn victims of violent crimes. Former Governor Bev. Perdue signed the bill into law in 2011.

Greensboro Police Chief Ken Miller said it is the first time the charge has been made by his department.

The women's bodies were found on Thursday, April 18 after Wu's co-workers at UNCG filed a missing person's report that same day. Police said Wu's colleagues were concerned when she didn't show up to work for several days.

Police in Germantown, TN alerted Greensboro Police Department they had Lei in custody on the same day.

Lei was previously charged with two counts of First Degree Murder.
