Triad, NC-- A new study by researchers for the Center For Disease Control shows that 45% of teenagers text while driving.

A discussion about the study at WFMY made us wonder is it just teenagers?  WFMY News 2's Liz Crawford investigates to find out who really is texting and driving on Triad roadways.

North Carolina is 1 of 39 states that has a texting ban for all drivers. That law went into effect in December 2009. If you're caught texting and driving, it's a $100 fine plus court fees.

However, the study shows that texting laws have little effect on teenagers who text and drive.

There are phone apps to prevent teenagers from texting and driving.
