Most people know how they would spend their $425 million Powerball jackpot, but do you know what good that money could do in the Piedmont Triad community?

WFMY News 2 reached out to the United Way of Greensboro and the Volunteer Center of Greensboro to find out how that money could help people in the Triad. After taxes, the jackpot is about $244 million. Say you set aside half of that for yourself and your family; you would have $122 million to invest in your community. That would give all 72,000 students in Guilford County a mentor each through United Way's mentor program. The cost would cover training and activities for the mentor pairs.

What about jobs in the Triad? North Carolina has one of the highest unemployment rates in the county. $122 million would give 135 people jobs for 20 years, with a salary of $45,000 a year).

Another option: help kids get ready for first day of school with he WFMY News 2 Tools For School campaign. $122 million would supply 122 million packs of pencils for students.

The United Way of Greensboro said $122 million is 10 times the amount they raise each year.
