HIGH POINT, N.C. -- High Point Regional says effective Monday, January 6, they are restricting visitors who are under 18 years old to prevent the spread of the flu.
Greg Taylor, MD and chief operations officer at High Point Regional tells WFMY News "This decision is based on recommendations from the health system's infection control committee to combat the spread of influenza among patients."
High Point Regional also says anyone under the age of 18 will be not allowed to visit patients. They say these restrictions apply to lobbies, waiting areas, and patient rooms. This policy does not apply to children who need emergency care or hospitalization.
The hospital says they will continue to evaluate this situation as the flu season progresses.
