WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem police say they've arrested the man accused of pointing a gun at an officer.

Officials charged Tristan Marcel Martin Jr. with First Degree Burglary, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, kidnapping and several other charges.

Police say on Dec. 31, Martin was involved in a burglary with multiple suspects at a home on Argonne Boulevard. The victims were held at gunpoint while the suspects stole several items from the house, including a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado.

According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, Sgt. Lentz pulled over a vehicle on Pine Tree Road, just before 2 a.m. on Jan. 1. They say it matched the description of the stolen Silverado. Police say Martin, who was driving the vehicle, got out and pointed a gun at the officer. That's when Sgt. Lentz fired his weapon, but Martin along with a passenger in the stolen vehicle got away.

Martin was originally arrested and charged with First Degree Burglary Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, two counts of Second Degree Kidnapping and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. He was later charged with Assault with a Firearm on a Law Enforcement Officer.

Martin was not hurt in the incident. He is being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center on a $325,000 bond and will appear in court on Jan. 23.

Sgt. Lentz was placed on administrative duty following the shooting. He's a 24-year veteran with the Winston-Salem Police Department. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and The Professional Standards Division are also conducting their own investigations.
