CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WCNC) -- To further promote team spirit around Charlotte, Mayor Cannon has declared Friday, Jan. 10 to be "FAN Friday."

The city wants to encourage residents to wear Panther colors or simply all black in honor of the winning team. The Panthers will wear all black when they take on San Francisco this weekend.

Fans will also notice Carolina pride across Charlotte, including signage around uptown, new marquees and a Panther-blue ribbon around the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

The city also wants everyone to use the #KeepPounding hashtag to cheer on the players, and the new #BlackFriday, which encourages fans to wear all black to community events and work on the 10th.

It's all part of a friendly wager with San Francisco's Mayor Edwin Lee. The mayor representing the losing team will wear the opponent's colors during a Big Brothers, Big Sisters event for mayors across the country later this month.
