CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) -- Marines from Camp Lejeune are going to be freezing for a reason at the seventh annual Polar Plunge at Onslow Beach.
Gunnery Sgt. Ryan O'Hare says Saturday's event opens at 9 a.m. and all proceeds are going to the Special Olympics of Onslow County.
Family activities include a sandcastle contest, costume contests for individuals and teams and door prizes.
The plunge begins promptly at 11 a.m.
Individuals may plunge with a minimum $25 pledge. Teams of eight to 20 for $200, teams of 21 to 30 for a pledge of $300 and teams of 31 or more with a pledge of $400. For more information, please visit www.sonconslow.org .
