GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Greensboro Police Department (GPD) said during the first week of its traffic safety initiative, it has not issued many citations. The department explained the first week of the campaign has entailed measuring data, erecting enforcement zone signs and preparing for full enforcement of the reckless driving crackdown.
That full enforcement, called "saturated enforcement," begins Wednesday, and officers will constantly be patrolling (in both marked and unmarked police vehicles) the five-mile stretch of Battleground Avenue between Cornwallis Drive and Horse Pen Creek Road.
The campaign will be in effect for another seven weeks and then continue sporadically.
