RALEIGH N.C. - Beginning Monday, Jan. 20, Wrenn Road will be closed to thru-traffic.
NCDOT will begin to replace the Wrenn Road bridge over Sugartree Creek in Prospect Hill.
The project is part of the department's overall bridge program to improve condition of the state's bridges.
Wrenn Road bridge was built in 1957 and needs to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.
The new bridge will accommodate all traffic, including trucks and emergency vehicles.
The road will remain closed during construction.
However, local traffic will have access to homes and businesses from each end of Wrenn Road. They will not be able to pass beyond closed points on either side of Sugartree Creek.
The bridge replacement is part of a $7.3 million contract awards in February 2012.
