Raleigh, NC -- Today is an official day of mourning in North Carolina for the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting. Governor Mike Easley also has asked North Carolinians to observe a moment of silence at noon in honor of the 32 people who were killed by a gunman this week on the university's Blacksburg, Virginia, campus. North Carolina is joining at least 30 other states who are mourning the tragedy today. In Charlotte last night, 800 Virginia Tech alumni attended a memorial service for the victims.
