Greensboro, NC -- Two lanes of Interstate-40 West near the Lee St. exit were closed for several hours Thursday due to a wreck.

It happened about 10:15 a.m.

Trooper Greg Ingram said the driver of a Volvo tried to switch lanes on I40 west and caused the crash. He said the driver hit an SUV causing the vehicle to run off the road.

Ingram said the SUV flipped several times and came to rest on its top. The driver, identified as 38 year-old Dagoberto Salazar of Greensboro, died on the scene. Salazar was not wearing his seatbelt, according to highway patrol.

The driver of the Volvo also ran off the road and crashed into the guard rail. The driver refused treatment.

Troopers said they are not releasing the Volvo's driver name at this time, but did say the driver is a female.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

The area was closed for three hours.
